Grants Pass Flexible Learning EXperience (GPFLEX) is learning that works for your student(s) and your family. Enjoy the flexibility of at-home, online, learning with access to award-winning in-person programs and activities within Grants Pass School District 7 schools. With GPFLEX, students enjoy an individualized learning plan to help them achieve their educational goals.

Application to GPFLEX does not guarantee a spot in the school.  Please plan to attend your attendance area school until enrollment is complete. Current GPFLEX students will re-register for GPFLEX during PowerSchool registration.

GPFLEX is a good fit if:

  • Education is a regular topic of discussion in your family

  • Your family likes flexibility and scheduling your learning schedule

  • Your child has strong organizational and time management skills

  • Your child can work independently and has the follow up support from home needed

  • Your child is comfortable with technology and being on camera to interact with their teacher and peers.

GPFLEX is not a good fit if:

  • Your family lacks technology skills and/or access to technology

  • Your child requires extensive teacher support to learn

  • Your child procrastinates and puts work off to the last minute

  • Your child does not work well independently, have strong time management skills and/or organizational skills

Things to know about GPFLEX

Elementary

  • Attendance is required daily per the Oregon Department of Education and has two components
    • Students are required to have contact with their teacher daily.  This can be done via video conferencing, phone call, and/or email.
    • Students are required to make progress daily in assigned courses

  • Content is through Florida Virtual School (FLVS), our elementary online platform

  • Families will have two models to choose from:
    • Model A: 3rd - 5th grade students can be placed in a teacher guided model where students have daily, live instruction with a GPFLEX teacher four days a week and supported by the family. Content is a combination of FLVS courses and District 7 curriculum and pacing is directed by the teacher.
    • Model B: 2nd - 5th grade students can be placed in an independent study where all work is done through FLVS, is self paced, daily support and instruction is provided by the family with weekly opportunities to check in with a GPFLEX teacher 

  • Students may attend select in person classes including PE, music and band or strings at Highland Elementary, with transportation provided by the family

  • Enrollment in GPFLEX Elementary is limited based on class size, available slots, and student’s potential to be successful in an online environment

  • If students struggle with skill development and maintaining progress in content in this online setting, they may be asked to return to a brick and mortar setting

 

middle and high school

  • As with elementary, daily attendance is required per the Oregon Department of Education and has two components
    • Students are required to have contact with their teacher daily.  This can be done via video conferencing, phone call, and/or email.
    • Students are required to make progress daily in assigned courses

  • Students are provided with access to daily help sessions with a certified teacher.

  • Courses offered are through our online platform - Edgenuity (grades 6th - 12th).  

  • Students have the opportunity to attend classes at their attendance area school with a blended schedule of online and in-person instruction

  • Students can move through curriculum at a faster pace if desired

  • Enrollment in GPFLEX Secondary is limited based on class size, available slots, and student’s potential to be successful in an online environment

Steps to Enrollment

Application to GPFLEX does not guarantee a spot in the school.  Please plan to attend your attendance area school until enrollment is complete.

  1. Complete online readiness survey above
  2. GPFLEX staff will review your survey score and academic progress to date
    • If a score lower than 28, you will be contacted to discuss the areas in which your student demonstrates lack of readiness for the rigor of online learning.  You may be put on a waiting list and enrolled with academic probation for at least one semester.
    • If a score of 28 or higher, you will be added to the wait list and contacted when a slot is available in the school.  You should plan on continuing to attend your neighborhood school until then.
  3. When space is available, a GPFLEX staff member will contact the family to schedule an appointment

  4. Student and parent must attend mandatory orientation meeting and must sign the Enrollment Agreement and Academic Integrity Policy.  A schedule will be built and a start date determined for enrollment.
